09/2017: Prof. Brian Cullum serves as editor of a Special Issue of the Journal Chemosensors on “Chemical Imaging”

08/2017: Prof. Matt Pelton and Prof. Marie-Christine Daniel-Onuta publish most recent results on coupled-plasmon resonances in the Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters.

07/2017: Prof. Matt Pelton publishes latest results on room temperature continuous-wave nano laser using colloidal quantum wells in Nature Communications.

09/2016: Dr. Pietro Strobbia received his Ph.D. Fall 2016 and is currently continuing his work in plasmonic sensing as a postdoctoral fellow at Duke University.

05/2016: Dr. Florika Macazo received her Ph.D. Fall 2106 and is currently working as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Utah

03/2016: Prof. Brian Cullum is selected to be a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Biomedical Optics

2015

11/30/15: Professor Chris D. Geddes was honored at a UMBC technology luncheon, for technology innovation and development at UMBC. During his tenure at UMBC and within USM, Dr Geddes has published more than 250 peer-reviewed papers, 30 books and he currently holds in excess of 100 world wide patents. Dr Geddes has founded 3 companies, with over 300 products available today, with an enterprise value in excess of $100 million dollars. Dr Geddes has recently received a new TEDCO technology development award, with a view to spinning out a new company on the technology in 2016.

11/16/2015: Congratulations to Lauren Schoukroun-Barnes for successfully defending her PhD thesis. Lauren is a graduate student in Ryan White’s group in Chemistry and Biochemistry.

11/16/2015: Congratulation to Alex LeBrun, a PhD student working in Dr. Liang Zhu’s lab. Alex just successfully defended his PhD dissertation research last week, entitled “MicroCT Image-Based Thermal Simulation and Protocol Design in Magnetic Nanoparticle Hyperthermia”. We also got a new this week that Alex’s third paper has been accepted by the International Journal of Hyperthermia. A PDF file will be posted on our lab website (bioheat.umbc.edu) once it is available.
